The integrated development environments (IDE) for Visual Studio Code now offer a brand-new, interactive, agentic coding experience called Amazon Q Developer. This experience expands on current prompt-based features by introducing interactive coding possibilities. Now, as you write code, write documentation, run tests, and review changes, you have a natural, real-time collaborative companion by your side.
Amazon Q Developer alters how you write and maintain code by offering transparent reasons for its suggestions and letting you choose between automated or manual changes. You can use Amazon Q Developer command line interface (CLI) agent regularly and have seen how its chat interface streamlines software development. With an AI-powered helper a Q Chat away in CLI, my everyday development routine has improved coding.
Your local development environment and the new agentic coding experience in Amazon Q Developer’s IDE work together effortlessly. You can run bash commands, read and write files directly, and have natural discussions about your work. By understanding the context of your codebase and assisting with intricate tasks through natural dialogue, Amazon Q Developer keeps your workflow moving forward and speeds up development.

You have the option of using Amazon Q Developer Free tier with AWS Builder ID user identification or Amazon Q Developer Pro, which is a premium subscription service.
Update to the latest version if you are an existing user. Use Amazon Q Developer in the IDE to activate.
You begin by opening the chat interface in my IDE by selecting the Amazon Q icon. You can develop a web application for this presentation that turns Jupiter notebooks from the Amazon Nova sample repository into interactive programs.
The README file, notebooks, notes, and anything else in the folder containing the chat are then all examined by Amazon Q Developer. It is located at the repository’s root in the instance.
Amazon Q Developer starts the application creation process after the repository analysis is finished. It asks for authorisation to run the bash command in order to create the required directories and files, adhering to the prompt criteria.
Amazon Q Developer builds the entire web application after establishing the folder structure.
The application will be finished in a few minutes. The application structure and deployment instructions are provided by Amazon Q Developer and can be transformed into a README file upon request in the conversation.
